La Ruche: stay in a Tiny House that is just that bit different from other tiny houses.
General Information
La Ruche is located in Chaumont-Gistoux, a beautiful village in the heart of Walloon Brabant, between Brussels and Namur. As the name suggests, the theme is a bee hive (Ruche) and this theme translates beautifully into this tiny house. La Ruche is located on a private estate and you get the impression that you are staying in the middle of nowhere.
Why is this Tiny House different from the others? You can tell by the service or the different 'amenities' that are offered. You get a unique stay in a beautiful location, but you get almost the same extras as in a hotel: towels, soap (shower and kitchen), tea & coffee, bed linen, wine or champagne that can be purchased on the spot, etc. On arrival, the tiny house is already heated with a fire in the stove, a service we certainly appreciated in the middle of winter.
Food and Drinks
Upon arrival, there was a nice aperitif: local beers and snacks. For dinner in the tiny house, you can use the equipped kitchen or you can just go to the restaurant or order take-out. On the domain are also several bubbles that can be privatized for a romantic dinner. You can get more information via this link.
The light breakfast consists of toast with fresh eggs and local yoghurt. But since we stayed just after the opening, the breakfast was not yet optimised.
Activities
In Chaumont-Gistoux, you can take very nice walks. Go shopping in the university town of Louvain-la-Neuve or visit the Hergé museum. The beautiful abbey of Villers-la-Ville is 20 minutes away from this tiny house.
Practical Information
Prices from €119 per night.
Parking is available 50 metres from the tiny house.
Our Experience
As we mentioned before, this tiny house is different from most of the tiny houses in Belgium. We were pleasantly surprised by our stay and we hope to return one day, but then during the summer 😊
